William Stewart, President & Founder

William Stewart brings a passion to Povaddo for uncovering the strategic insights necessary to address the toughest challenges facing companies and organizations worldwide. William’s in-depth expertise has been cultivated over decades of work in the field of communications and issue research. He has provided direct counsel and insight to senior executives in the C-suites of leading global companies and organizations, including Ameren, Amgen, AT&T, Kodak, Papa John’s and PepsiCo. Prior to founding Povaddo, he was the head of research at FleishmanHillard where he became extremely well-versed in communications measurement, evaluation and ROI models, and provided a deep understanding and expertise in the areas of message development and strategy, branding and reputation, issues and crisis management. He has traveled the globe as a research consultant for projects in Asia, Australia, Europe, Latin America and the Middle East, and has successfully completed qualitative and quantitative research studies in more than 60 countries, including places like Iran and Kurdistan. He has also directly advised presidential candidates in Greece, Guatemala and the Philippines. William holds a bachelor’s degree in International Affairs from George Washington University.

 

Jim Heys, Creative Director & Founder

Jim Heys is an ethnographic research specialist, using its application toward the development of new products, services and brand experiences for Povaddo’s clients. Jim has nearly two decades of experience in the development and interpretation of various brand factors and their implications for brand positioning, brand identity, brand architecture, naming and communications. He focuses on message-driven design and has assisted numerous organizations in clarifying and amplifying their core messages to target audiences. He has managed comprehensive identity programs and strategic branding initiatives to help clients such as AT&T, Bristol-Myers Squibb, DuPont, Emerson, Honda, Imation, and the U.S. Library of Congress launch new brands, reposition existing brands, or unify their brands during mergers or acquisitions. Previously a creative director for global communications firm FleishmanHillard, Jim directed the agency’s visual branding capability and also led multi-disciplinary teams in the development of investor communications, annual reports, corporate identity and branding initiatives. Jim holds a master’s degree from the Institute of Design in Chicago and a bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from the University of Nebraska.

 

Tony Calandro, Senior Vice President

Tony Calandro is an accomplished leader with more than 25 years of experience in social impact and change management. At Povaddo, Tony leads the firm’s work in business transformation and sustainability. Previously, he was a senior vice president at VOX Global and FleishmanHillard where he was a trusted advisor known for providing counsel to chief sustainability officers and executives across a variety of industry sectors to successfully address their most complex business and societal challenges. Tony has worked with major brands and organizations in biotechnology, telecommunications, food and beverage, transportation, energy, finance, and consumer goods with a proven track record of driving transformative change inside companies. Tony helps clients make the business case for action, aligning internal operations, embedding societal issues that intersect with their companies, and filling the role of translator to both inside audiences and outside stakeholder groups. Tony holds a master’s degree in Public Policy from Rutgers University.

 

Ken Garcia, Vice President

Ken Garcia is an 18-year veteran of global communications agencies and major corporate communications departments. His core areas of focus at Povaddo are communications research and strategy, issue management and message/materials development. Before joining Povaddo, Ken managed media relations and issues management programs for Altria, a FORTUNE® 200 company that owns the largest tobacco companies in the U.S. He worked with media and other external stakeholders to communicate the company’s positions on a variety of public policy issues in state capitals across the country and led the company’s external communication efforts to share its corporate responsibility story. Prior to Altria, Ken was with FleishmanHillard working on AT&T’s integration of BellSouth in Florida, Padilla/CRT PR in Richmond, Va., and Ruder-Finn, one of the world’s largest independent public relations agencies based in New York City. Ken holds a bachelor’s degree in Public Relations from the University of Florida.

 

Shelly Adcock, Vice President

Shelly Adcock focuses on turning raw data points into transformative insights that inform strategic business decisions for Povaddo’s clients. Shelly uses primary research instruments to guide corporate affairs decisions and communication strategies. Shelly splits his time between qualitative and quantitative research projects and has extensive experience with all aspects of primary research from discussion guide development and focus group moderation to questionnaire development and advanced statistical processes, including discrete choice modeling. Prior to joining Povaddo, Shelly spent the past decade leading primary research projects with the world’s largest public relations firm, FleishmanHillard, and one of the largest global market research companies, Ipsos. Shelly has provided direct research-based consultation for several FORTUNE® 500 companies across a variety of industries, including AT&T, Dow, Caterpillar, Merck, Monsanto, Enbridge, Tyson and Amgen. He holds a master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Missouri.

 

Katie Schrik, Director

Katie Schrik is responsible for managing multi-faceted qualitative and quantitative opinion research projects and providing strategic counsel to Povaddo’s clients. Katie is passionate about providing insightful and actionable recommendations to clients dealing with complex issues, both domestically and internationally. Primarily working with FORTUNE® 200 companies in highly regulated industries, she is continually expanding her knowledge base to fully understand her clients’ challenges. While at Povaddo, Katie has helped expand the firm’s capabilities in international quantitative research carrying out projects in more than 50 countries. Prior to joining Povaddo, she was a Coro Fellow in Public Affairs, providing strategic counsel and support to the private sector, government, non-profits, organized labor, and political campaigns. Katie holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Urban Affairs, and a certificate in Business Administration from Saint Louis University.

 

Brooke Wheeler, Project Manager

Brooke Wheeler specializes in quantitative research and data analysis at Povaddo, and also plays a role in design and data visualization. Brooke manages quantitative fieldwork and data quality control for many of the firm’s client engagements. Her past experience includes positions as a telephone interviewer at H2R Market Research in Springfield, Mo., a qualitative research assistant at New York Consumer Centers in New York City, and most recently a quantitative research analyst at H2R Market Research. Brooke holds bachelor's degrees in Psychology and Dance from Missouri State University.

 

Wendy Lawrence, Project Specialist

Wendy Lawrence specializes in communications research where she assesses and synthesizes qualitative insights and translates them into effective messaging and materials. Previously, Wendy was a member of the global research team at FleishmanHillard focusing on researching and writing in-depth news summaries for global companies Bunge Limited and Huawei Technologies Company Ltd. She has also served as an adjunct faculty member at the University of Missouri-Kansas City teaching communications theory, public speaking, and mass communication. Wendy holds master’s and bachelor’s degrees in Communications from the University of Missouri – Kansas City and the University of Missouri – Columbia, respectively.
